Miss an open goal – 50p
All fines lie at Blackie’s discretion and judgement.

Coity FC (1) vs (3) Garth Vader FC

The Vaders season got off to a good start as they picked up 3 points away to Coity FC. A great turnout and a very strong squad give the Vaders a much needed win after the struggles of the past 2 seasons. Kurt Vincent picked up were he left off last season, getting yet another Man of the Match vote along with a goal, and Alex Blacker proved all his doubters wrong by also getting on the scoresheet.
Rob Boydell and Sean Morris failed to cover themselves in full back glory with 2 foul throws a piece and there’s no guessing what they’ll be practising in training next week.
With such a good turn out it was difficult to pick a starting 11 but those who missed out will get their turn in the next few weeks as we give everyone the chance to cement their place.
A new formation and a couple of new faces meant it took a while to get going and after a dominating first half where only the final ball let us down, Coity’s centre half decided to break the deadlock with a bizarre own goal. Coity got an equaliser almost instantly but the Vaders took over shortly after, going 3-1 and holding on comfortably.
Ieuan Evans provided a good laugh in the pub after with his ‘since records began’ argument and everyone went home happy, except maybe Chocky who may still be weeping after getting subbed. More of the same next week lads!

Club captain
Scott Sainsbury will remain club captain for the forthcoming season and with the full time return of former club captain, Stephen Gould, current vice-captain Richard Boydell is going to step down to allow Gouldy into that position. Scott will not be able to commit every week, like last season, due to shift work, so Gouldy will more than likely captain the team more often than Scott but Scott will resume duties whenever he’s available.
Club ambassador
Blackie will be taking on a new role for this season, which will include running nutters club and organising nights out etc to keep the social side of the team going, as it’s dropped off big time the last 2 seasons. His main role will be implementing rules for the players and collecting fines for breaking those rules, but it’s all meant to be a laugh and to raise money for nights out and a tour. Blackie is working on ideas and will let you all know in good time what they are.
